A lawyer representing Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal today wrote to Delhi Police claiming he has been threatened again allegedly by henchmen of underworld don Ravi Pujari against pursuing the case.

In a letter sent to Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi, advocate M S Khan said Delhi Police has been doing assessment of his previous threats for the last three months but no action has been taken till date in the matter.

"It appears that I am being watched and monitored very closely by some miscreants and on the other hand Delhi Police is just doing my threat assessment for the last three months," he said.

Khan said that yesterday night when he reached home after attending a marriage ceremony, two unidentified persons came to him and told him not to represent Bhatkal in the court.

"...When I reached near my house, two persons came to me, one of them addressed me 'Khan sahab maan jao, chor do kab tak bachaoge bhatkal ko' (Mr Khan, leave Bhatkal's case. How long will you save him). I also noticed that he was having some weapon concealed under his shirt. This episode lasted just for few seconds and they left," he said.

In January this year, Khan had complained to the police that a person, who identified himself as Ravi Pujari, was threatening him to leave Bhatkal's case and he had also received threat calls and SMSes.

He had thereafter approached the Supreme Court which had asked him to approach the Delhi High Court on the issue.

In his today's letter, Khan said as the police was not taking any action in the matter, he had decided that he would not pursue his petition pending before the High Court as "it will be a useless academic exercise".

He, however, clarified that he would continue to conduct terror cases, including that of Mohd Ahmed Siddibappa alias Yasin Bhatkal.

Khan, who is also defending top Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT) bomb expert Abdul Karim Tunda, extradited gangster Abu Salem and various other suspected terrorists, had said he had received a call on January 16 from a person who identified himself as Ravi Pujari.

In his letter, the lawyer also said,"You (Commissioner) are therefore informed accordingly without expecting any action on your part as nothing has been done so far on my earlier bunch of complaints."

Khan also said that in January this year, he had received calls and messages after he had moved an application before the special NIA court here regarding threat to Bhatkal.

"...Few days ago, I also moved another application on his (Bhatkal's) behalf against the threat to his life and forcible confession in Mumbai and this incident (threat by two persons) happened to me," he said.

Earlier, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi had tasked the Special Cell of Delhi Police to look into the complaint given by the advocate.
