A woman died under mysterious circumstances at her house in the Karelabera Bawdi of Khedapa town here with her parents alleging she was killed for dowry, police said today. Police handed over the body to the family after the post-mortem from the medical board. The in-laws alleged that she committed suicide by hanging herself. Currently, the investigation is going on.
Bhagwan Ram, a resident of Khabada of Karvad, told the police that his daughter Chhagani Devi alias Saroj was married almost 4 years ago with Dinesh s/o Premarin, a resident of Karelabera Bawdi of Khedapa.
The in-laws demanded dowry many times, Rs 25 thousand were given to the son-in-law a few years back. After marriage, the daughter could not even have any child. The son-in-law is a laborer.
It was reported on Tuesday that his daughter Chhagani aka Saroj, has ended her life by hanging herself. when people from parental side reached there, Saroj’s dead body was laid on the floor. The father of the deceased Bhagwan Ram accused his son-in-law Dinesh, father Premram and mother Babudevi for torturing Chhagni. That’s why she probably ended her life.
The family members of woman has filed a case of dowry killing. On Wednesday afternoon, the postmortem was done from the Medical Board at Mathuradas Mathur Hospital.
