The theft took place when the family was readying for marriage rituals at Elan Convention Centre on Puttenahalli Main Road. "When the family was busy with the wedding preparations, someone spirited away the valuables. The incident came to light when the family went to fetch the ornaments," a senior police officer said.
The bride's jewellery, along with one of her friend's, went missing. Police who inspected the spot suspect it to be the handiwork of a known person.
*Two armed men rob SBI*
Two men, wielding a revolver, made away with Rs 4.82 lakh cash after threatening the staff at a State Bank of India (SBI) customer centre near KEB Circle in Hoskote town, Bangalore Rural district, on Thursday afternoon. The centre is located on the first floor of the building. Around 1 pm, the miscreants, once inside, asked the two staff members to step aside. Thereafter, brandishing the revolver and threatening to kill them if they raised an alarm, they asked the staff to hand over the cash, which they did so. The duo then sped away on bike parked downstairs.
A senior police officer said the staff members alerted the police and said that the miscreants were conversing in Hindi and their faces was not covered. Entering like customers and finding no one was present except them, they carried away the cash meant to be deposited at the bank. The building is located in a crowed commercial area. The theft was executed after a recce of the site. A case has been registered and investigation on, the police officer added.
*Plumber falls to death*
A 25-year-old plumber, Sunil, fell to his death from the 14th floor of an under-construction building near Yelahanka police station on Wednesday.
A resident of AK Colony, he slipped and fell to the ground while carrying out plumbing work. The security guard, who checked on hearing a loud sound, found Sunil lying in a pool of blood.
He immediately called the Yelahanka police, who reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. A case has been registered and investigation is on. Reported by Deccan Herald 10 hours ago.
