With the world inching slowly towards gender equality and breaking patriarchial stereotypes and UN urging men to pledge towards preventing crimes towards woman with #HeForShe campaign, another initiative by a leading match making portal has recently gained momentum.
Shaadi.com, a few weeks back has launched its #FastforHer campagin where they urge Indian man to fast for their better halves on this 'Karvachaut'.
The website states, "Marriage is a beautiful bond between a man and a woman, a life-long commitment like no other. There's no such thing as a Perfect Relationship. It's love, respect, understanding, equality and undying commitment that makes a relationship special."
Trying to express the idea behind this initiative, the website says that a woman gets married and leaves her home to make another her own and in that journey makes innumerable silent comprimises.
The website urges every happily married man to show his love for his wife by pledging to fast for her this 'Karvachaut'. The website says, "Take a stand, spread the word and let us all come together to celebrate the special woman in your life. Here's What You Can Do to Make 11th October Special! Record your pledge, "Dear (Wife), I Pledge to fast for you because..." holding an empty plate and upload it to your Facebook / Twitter account with the #FastForHer. And don't forget to tag two other friends whom you want to nominate."
Among the 5.5 lakh people who support this initiative are popular television chocolate boys Hiten Tejwani and Varun Baldola. Chetan Bhagat, popular indian fiction author too is on the forefront of this first of a kind initiative.
