On Saturday, the members of the LGBTQ community came together to welcome new members who came out of the closet on the eve of International Coming Out Day, at Bandra’s Carter Road. *The gathering at Carter Road*It was an emotional gathering, and no one who came out of the closet believed that they were coming out for the society, but for themselves. They kept a closet at the promenade, and they broke it as a sign of breaking out of the closet.
Parween Sharma, who was part of the gathering, said, “I need to come out of the closet, so questions about my marriage stop. I don’t want to act — I just want to be gay.” Nirati Majumdar, who was at Carter Road, too, said, “I came out to my parents earlier this year and it relieves me that I broke out of the closet.”*Voices*
