*One was killed and three others suffered injuries when a sports utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in rammed into a tree near Algodu village (National Highway 212) inTNarsipur taluk on Wednesday early hours.

The deceased has been identified as Kumaraswamy (54) a resident of Siddartha Nagar in the city. Kumaraswamy was a nominated corporator from Janata Dal party in the year 1996. The injured are his friends Devu, also the driver, RNagaraj and another Kumaraswamy from Mandya.
The four were returning from TNarsipura around 12.30 am when the mishap occurred. The injured have been shifted to Apollo BGSHospitals in Mysore.

It's a double blow for the family members of Kumaraswamy, who are recovering from the loss of the latter's youngest son Shamanth. Shamanth (21) was a BBMstudent at Vidya Vikas College on Bannur road. He was killed in a two wheeler accident four months ago.Earlier to this, Kumaraswamy's father had died in the month of January.
Kumaraswamy who had slipped into depression after his youngest son's death, was showing signs of springing back to normalcy after his other son Sharath's marriage was fixed a few days ago. After the engagement ceremony, the marriage was due to be held in January. Kumaraswamy's daughter Shwetha, who is the eldest among the children is married. Kumaraswamy leaves behind wife Vijayamba and two children.
