*A woman in Rajasthans Ajmer district has alleged that she was forced to convert to Islam two years after her marriage.*
Atta Uddin Khan, the man she accused of solemising a fake fake marriage and sexually harassing her for two years, was arrested and produced in court on Saturday.
He was remanded to police custody for three days.
Khan, along with his family members, was also harassing the woman as he wanted her sister to marry his younger brother, according to the complaint.
The woman eventually ran away from Khan's house to a relatives place in Ahmedabad. He then took the matter to local police.
Terming it a typical case of love Jihad, Hindutva outfits like Vishva Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena have come out in support of the victim.
A memorandum was submitted to Superintendent of Police Mahendra Chaudhary who directed Christian Ganj police station to lodge a FIR .
"The woman has alleged that Khan raped her for two years after getting married. She was harassed to convert and was constantly pressurised to get her sister married to Khan's younger brother," said Nem Singh, SHO, Christian Ganj police station.
Khans family members are absconding and a search launched for them, he added.
According to police, three years back Khan, who lived in a nearby locality, framed her and solemnised a fake marriage. Khan also took her signature on a blank stamp paper.
Since then, the girl was being harassed by Khan and his family. Two years after the marriage the girl delivered a baby following which Khan and family started pressurising her to convert.
Before the marriage the woman was allegedly misled by Khan, who hid information about him and his family.
Police said when the woman ran away to her relatives place in Ahmedabad, Khan and his family members reached her parent's house.
They allegedly beat them when they failed to reveal any information about their daughter. Reported by Deccan Herald 20 hours ago.
