The "Main Tera Hero" treated his fans to a topless photograph of himself on Instagram. In the image, he can be seen working out while wearing maroon-coloured track pants.

"Training for 'Dishoom' was one of the most fun and hardcore experiences. I had to cut, gain muscle and cut fat at the same time," the 29-year-old captioned the image.

The "Badlapur" star also praised his trainer for pushing him.

Directed by Varun's brother Rohit Dhawan, "Dishoom", also stars John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez, Akshaye Khanna and Saqib Saleem

The 51-year-old Italian actress will play the role of Alessandra, an iconic opera singer who will become the next collaborator of Rodrigo, the New York Symphony Orchestra conductor played by Gael Garcia Bernal, reported Variety.

Season three will see the musicians take their talents on tour to Europe.

"Alessandra is as famous for her passionate performances as she is for her erratic life off the stage. After years away from the spotlight, she enlists Rodrigo to conduct her grand return performance," an Amazon statement said.

The chokehold image was posted around a number of major US cities to promote the 20th Century Fox blockbuster, but the violent snapshot drew heavy criticism for appearing to promote violence against women.

Actress Rose MCGowan was among those who took issue with the advertisement and made her feelings known online, and now studio officials at Fox have accepted they were in the wrong for approving such a picture, reported The Wrap.

"In our enthusiasm to show the villainy of the character Apocalypse we didn't immediately recognize the upsetting connotation of this image in print form," read the statement.

"Once we realized how insensitive it was, we quickly took steps to remove those materials. We apologize for our actions and would never condone violence against women."

Rose has yet to respond to the studio chiefs' comments.

She initially voiced her disapproval in a message on The Hollywood Reporter's Facebook page.

"There is a major problem when the men and women at 20th Century Fox think casual violence against women is the way to market a film," she wrote.

http://images.mid-day.com/images/2016/feb/5hemamalini-s.jpg*Hema Malini*

A violent confrontation between the police and encroachers on Thursday caused disruption here after 24 persons, including two senior police officers, were killed in firing by encroachers.

Hema, who represents Mathura constituency in the Lok Sabha, took to Twitter on Saturday to clarify her stance.

In a series of tweets, she wrote: “In Mathura and condoled with the bereaved families. I still can't understand how the great media thinks the sansad (parliament) is responsible for law and order.

“They seem to be diverting attention from the main issue - that law and order is purely the state government's responsibility. Why target me? I'm doing my job.”

After the violence, various opposition parties, especially the BJP, targetted the ruling Samajwadi Party and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav over "complete breakdown" of the administration and law and order in the state.

Hema further wrote: “Anyone in Mathura will vouch for my sincerity - I'm improving living conditions, providing roads and drinking water... A sansad's duty is not to head the police force or quell rebels or evict encroachers. Development is my line of duty and I'm sincere in my job."

She also invited the accusers to visit Mathura and see her work themselves.

“I'm dedicating so much time to Mathura. Sometimes it is days before I even see my family or my house. I'm attending to public needs sincerely.

“What do I get in return for my sincerity? Brickbats and loud accusations. I sincerely thank all of you who have supported me in this controversy,” she tweeted.

Hema was criticised for tweeting details of how convenient it has become to commute between mainland Mumbai and Madh Island, where she was shooting for the film "Ek Thi Rani".

This caused Hema to draw flak as many reacted negatively. The BJP MP then deleted the tweets, and expressed her concern for the situation in Mathura.

Hema also posted photographs of her visiting a local hospital “to enquire about the welfare of the injured police personnel”.

Not so long ago, speculations of this actor's engagement breaking up did the rounds. There were reports that the two called it quits due to a number of arguments and differences in lifestyle. But now, we hear that the real reason why the couple broke up was that the girl caught her fiancé red-handed with a married woman.

Now, the buzz is that the two are set to collaborate on a film. A source says, "Abhishek and Karan had a late night meeting at Karan's house earlier this week. It was a casual meeting but they are said to have discussed few projects too. So there is a possibility that they will soon collaborate for a project and might announce something."

Apparently, Mahek had met with an accident and was thus unable to shoot. The makers were in a dilemma because they have to prepare a bank of episodes before the show goes on air. Rumour mills suggested that Ekta Kapoor and her production house Balaji Telefilms were already on a lookout for a replacement and have already started taking auditions. In a few days the show will go on air and the grand launch is set for the upcoming week.

Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, the period-drama was touted as Kashyap's most ambitious project in terms of scale and budget. However, the film could not do well.

The "Dev D" helmer is now ready with his next, "Raman Raghav 2.0" in which he has seemingly gone back to his earlier days of making movies on shoe-string budgets.

When asked if there is a pressure to deliver at the box office with his latest, Kashyap told reporters, "Pressure for box office comes when there is a massive budget. It (pressure) is there with every film in general, we want it to work. But not that pressure which was there for the previous film,"

"My last film was Titanic, this is a kashti (boat)," the filmmaker said at the launch of "Qatl-e-Aam" song for his latest directorial 'Raman Raghav 2.0' last evening.

Kashyap is known to make dark niche movies but the filmmaker says for him every film he makes is a commercial movie.

"For me every film of mine is commercial. Whatever film I make I make it thinking like that (commercial). After that you decide whatever it is. For me this is a commercial film only."

The star made her directorial debut with "Pitch Perfect 2" last year and in October 2015 she signed on to reprise her role behind the camera for the next installment.

However, the project has since suffered a setback as Elizabeth is no longer attached to take charge of "Pitch Perfect 3", according to TheWrap.

A reason for her departure has yet to be revealed, but "The Hunger Games" star has a busy few months ahead of her as she is due to direct the big screen adaptation of Victoria Aveyard's young adult novel "Red Queen" and the planned reboot of "Charlie's Angels."

Elizabeth will stay on as a producer of "Pitch Perfect 3."

A replacement director has yet to be named. The news emerges days after studio bosses at Universal pushed back the movie's scheduled release from July, 2017 to December, 2017.

Asif Bhamla, chairperson of the Bhamla Foundation which co-organises the annual event, says, “Sanjay will show how to make paper bags in front of thousands of participants. Our motto behind this activity is to ask people to stop using plastic bags and protect and preserve the environment.”

The 56-year-old actor had earned R440 for making paper bags and khaki envelopes in prison when he served the remainder of his five-year term in Pune’s Yerawada jail following his conviction in a case related to the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. Dutt was initially given the job of making paper bags from newspapers. He was trained by a team of experts, and was tagged as an unskilled labour. The actor was paid R45 for every 100 paper bags that he prepared perfectly.

This will be the eighth year that the foundation is organising this event to raise environmental awareness with the support of activists and celebs from various walks of wife. Last year, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar had been named the event ambassador. This year, the focus will be on garbage compost. Around 1000 saplings will be distributed and many more events will be held for days post the big event on Sunday.

Jackie and Tiger Shroff, Raveena Tandon, Farhan Akhtar and a few other B’wood faces, political personalities and Tendulkar are expected to take part in the initiative.

Salim-Suleiman, Honey Singh, Sona Mohapatra and Armaan Malik will perform at the cultural do which includes a dance show by Shiamak Davar’s troupe.MeanwhileSalman Khan was also expected to be part of this environment awareness programme on Sunday, but he will be giving it a miss.

Asif says, “Salman has informed us that he is busy with his upcoming film, Sultan, and won’t be able to make it. Shah Rukh is yet to confirm his presence”.

“While Karan and Bipasha shared interesting anecdotes from their wedding and honeymoon with Kapil, a member from the audience decided to test Bipasha on her home skills and asked her to do some regular household chores that wives usually do,” said a source from the set.

“She was first asked to sew a button on a shirt. Though she said that she had never stitched anything in her life, Bipasha sportingly gave it a shot as Karan looked on amusingly. Next, she was asked to tie a tie on Karan, who was seen teasing her endlessly,” the source added.

The Abhishek Chaubey-directed film is based on the issue of drug addiction in Punjab.

There were reports that the censor board was not clearing the fillm but the makers have clarified that the film is still under process for certification.

Alia says "Udta Punjab" is not villainising anyone but introducing audience to an issue, which is plaguing not only India but the whole world.

"Whosoever watches the film he/she will realise it is a story, which is important because it is almost like education of what the situation is. We are not attacking anybody in particular, we are showing a perspective, it's a backdrop," Alia told PTI in an interview.

"The problem is not only in Punjab, it is in India. We are not targeting India, in fact this exists in the world. People are battling it, they are dying at young age. It is very sad to hear these things.

"We are not being preachy and saying that you are wrong if you are a drug addict. In fact, we are empathising with them because it's a battle. Full mention and regard has been given to that," she added.

Co-produced by Phantom Films and Balaji Motion Pictures, "Udta Punjab" also stars Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh.

There were reports that former lovers Shahid and Kareena felt awkward in each other's company at the trailer launch where their co-star Alia Bhatt, director Abhishek Chaubey among others were also present.

Present at a radio station for the film's promotion, when Shahid was asked about the issue, he said: "Just tell me how is it decided that two people feel awkward. That we were looking at each other in a particular way? What you did find awkward?"

When pointed out that they maintained distance and didn't click pictures together, Shahid said: "...because if I and Kareena click pictures together then people will just write about it and keep talking about it only."

The fourth actor in the film, Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh was missing from the trailer launch and Alia launched the song 'Ikk Kudi' without the other actors. Even at the radio station on Friday, only Shahid and Alia were there.

Asked about all four star actors in the film not coming together at any of the events, Shahid said: "We have just started the promotions. Abhi toh picture shuru hui hai."

*Q. A number of Bollywood actresses avoid essaying de-glam roles. Did you also think about it before considering your character in 'Udta Punjab'?*
*A.* I make choices based on my instincts. I do consult a few people before signing a film, but with this one I was pretty sure that I would be able to showcase my potential as an actor. So this de-glam character wasn't an issue.

*Q. Is it destiny or a conscious effort to do both experimental and mainstream cinema?*
*A.* If I had said no to a film like 'Udta Punjab' after 'Shaandaar', filmmakers would have thought that I have closed doors for experimental movies. But the fact that I am excited about such films tells them that I am open to them. Of course there is destiny at play, but at the same time, I am conscious about films I want to be part of.

*Q. 'Shaandaar' failed at the box office. And currently, if a film doesn't do well, the brand value of the actors gets affected even if they have performed well. Is that one of the reasons why you maintain a balance between mainstream and experimental cinema?*
A. I am doing mainstream cinema because I love doing such films. I am doing them because I want to, not because I have to.

*Q. Over the years, you must have rejected film offers. How difficult is it to say no to filmmakers in this phase of your career?*
*A.* Firstly, I get upset when I like a script but can't do it due to date constraints. Secondly, there's nothing wrong in saying no to films. But you need to know how to go about it. In the past, I have made mistakes and regret not being sensitive while saying no to a film, but I know better now. It takes a while to say no because there is somebody who believes in the film more than you do.

*Q. Has it become more difficult for you to pick films because your brand value is at stake?*
*A.* Of course, it has become harder now. Initially, I could afford to do things my own way since I was new to the industry. But now, makers show a lot more trust in me and with trust comes responsibility. However, I don't overthink. I am aware of my position in the industry.

*Q. What's your take on the Tanmay Bhat controversy?*
*A.* It has been spoken about a lot, more than it needed to be spoken about. There are far more important issues that should be given importance.

http://images.mid-day.com/images/2016/jun/3-Housefull-3-review-s.jpg*'Housefull 3' poster. Pic/Santa Banta*

You enter a theatre expecting the film to be silly and absurd. And even then, you end up laughing in amazement at the level of nonsense that it reaches. And then this sets a series of giggles — sometimes, out of embarrassment and sometimes, purely out of glee. ‘Housefull 3’ is another such gem in this genre and going by the family that was sitting behind me catching it FDFS and doubling up with laughter at every scene, this review seems rather irrelevant yet again.

The pun-ny writer brothers Sajid-Farhad (who have also directed the film) have painstakingly pored over every line of every character to give them all a twist. But they seem to have gotten themselves so caught up in a knot over this that while some lines are genuinely funny, most of them ended up being mere nonsense. This, as we know, happens often when you are trying too hard.

Is there a story? Yes, barely. Batuk Patel (Boman Irani) is the Gujju father of three daughters (Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon and Nargis Fakhri). Interestingly, while the father has a heavy Gujarati accent, all three daughters just about manage to utter Hindi, heavily laced with ‘phoren’ accent. Batuk doesn’t want his daughters to get married for some cock and bull excuses that he makes up, but the daughters want to. Their respective boyfriends, Sandy (Akshay Kumar), Teddy (Riteish Deshmukh) and Bunty (Abhishek Bachchan) are willing to go to any lengths to get married to the girls and usurp Batuk’s Rs 5000 crore property.

In the film packed with random characters moving in and out as they please, enters Urja (Jackie Shroff), a Mumbai underworld don of the 70s, to shake things up further.

This is not a politically correct film by any standards and is quite unapologetic about it, except for a forced, unwittingly hilarious scene where the girls talk about kindness towards handicapped people.

“With the link (of the video), somebody messaged me that 'I'll call you at the number available in the video'. But the number is too old. It was my former manager's number. Even she informed me that she is disturbed with it,” she added.

Tanya further requested the concerned person to delete the video.

*'Me Before You' poster. Pic/Santa Banta*

A romance fashioned from a best-selling novel by Jojo Moyes, this film tries to reach for ‘The Intouchables’ note but falls way too short to even compare. The premise is interesting though. A physically and emotionally damaged man meets a pretty young lady with self-esteem issues and they are bound to romance before the eventual despair and heartbreak.

The film is set in UK where the non-rich disabled people are supposedly suffering because of severe cuts in the Government benefits that is supposed to aid their survival. So go ahead and feel sorry for Will (Sam Claflin) a quadriplegic who once upon a time was so athletic and sporty. Despite being surrounded by love in the form of doting parents (Charles Dance and Janet McTeer), a physical therapist (Stephen Peacocke), his new nursemaid/companion Lou (Emilia Clarke), and apparently monetarily well heeled, Will is in the throes of depression and is quite suicidal. And of course Lou’s entry into his life makes all the difference to his motivation levels. Despite the heartbreak at the end the film ends on a positive uplifting note with Lou aiming for a more adventurous life.

Since the narrative is rather pre-occupied with the romance of it, there’s no effort made to give the audience a realistic picture of the challenges faced by someone so challenged. Little time is spent exploring the psychological aspects related to the condition. The Depression and suicidal intent are sort of fait accompli. Vague impressions of pain and unhappiness alluded to from time to time doesn’t seem like a great cross to bear in the scheme of things here. While the performances are competent – both Claflin and Clarke weave their personalities into their performances, the pathetic simple mindedness of the entire exercise is quite annoying. The film has a well-suited cast. Clarke is expressive and charming while Claflin does a mean job as a quadriplegic. The supporting cast including Mathew Lewis as Lou’s obnoxious boyfriend, Jenna Coleman as Lou’s older sister and Charles Dance and Janet McTeer as Will’s parents are believable.

The original 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', which debuted way back in the 1980s, were supposedly intended as a parody of superhero comics. But that was then. Today the series appears to have lost it's tryst with humor, considerably. There's nothing satirical or remotely funny going on here.

Set one year after the events of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', Shredder (Brian Tee) is in prison and Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) is presented with a key to the city, recognized as the hero who saved New York. The Turtles still hide underground and April O'Neill (Megan Fox) is investigating the scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) who she believes is working with Shredder.

So of course Shredder has to break free from his confines aided by an alien from another dimension, Krang (Brad Garrett) who offers the escape in order that Shredder help him and his war machine the Techodrome get to Earth. The turtles who seem to have gone into conflict with each other have to get back on track and help April and suspended New York cop Casey Jones (Stephen Arnell) to stop Shredder from retrieving the three parts of an alien device that could allow for inter-dimensional travel.

Writer/director Shane Black is a veteran at laugh worthy buddy-cop movies. After earning his spurs with 'Lethal Weapon 1 & 2', he continued his merry run at the box office with 'The Last Boy Scout' and 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' and then followed it up with 'Iron Man 3'. This return to roots initiative with steady Producer Joel Silver , brings him back to his old groove- cruising the streets of Los Angeles to mine a crime thriller, action comedy with a P.I , his daughter and a Punch man in a sort of three's company of misfits meant to do stupid things and bag the laughs.

*Watch the trailer of 'The Nice Guys'*Holland March (Ryan Gosling), a private detective with a drinking problem and his precocious young daughter named Holly (Angourie Rice) - who seems to have inherited a fair share of her father's irascible ineptitude, team up with Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) who beats up scum for money, in search of Amelia who happens to have some connection with Misty Mountains (Murielle Telio) the porn star who is shown to have driven herself to death in a drunken, drug induced stupor right in the beginning of the film itself.

The opening gambit is a little unreal. The car with Misty at the wheel careers downhill and runs through a house with a boy secretly rimming though his porn collection, before hitting a tree. The boy is just as amazed as we are at the corny set-up. The next thing we know is that there's an Amelia in the picture and she's the one that everyone's looking for.

The set-up is quite convoluted, unconvincing and extremely farcical. The slap-stick intent is a given. While the sight gags are intermittently funny, the plotting is sloppy and the editing keeps the fast pace going without allowing for any sense or logic to creep in. Buffaloing appears to be the key to getting things done, so the three main characters indulge themselves quite frenetically in the act. The father-daughter Buddy concept might be fresh but it's not the mainstay here. There's a third Buddy in the form of Healy who is the steadfast guy here.

"'TE3N' gets a U/A with no cuts from the censor. But the board was so cool... Great group of people," the film's producer, Sujoy Ghosh, tweeted on Thursday night.

The film, which is set in Kolkata, features megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

"I am not scared of fashion police but yes I made (many a) fashion faux pas. I think I am little more conservative when it comes to fashion but there are some people (in the industry) who have more eccentric and experimental taste in fashion," Fawad told IANS when asked if he was worried about the fashion police at any phase of his life.

He says that one should focus more on comfort when it comes to choosing clothes over anything else.

"Be comfortable in whatever you wear," he said during his recent visit here for the meet-and-greet session with the loyal customers of the brand Giovani, the quintessential Suits and Jackets brand, from Future Lifestyle Fashions Limited.

Amitabh Bachchan married Jaya on this day 43 years ago in 1973, the same year Amitabh's angry young man image took the nation by storm in ‘Zanjeer’. Their wedding was a hush-hush affair with only a few of close industry friends and family members in attendance.

The two actors have starred in several films together like 'Chupke Chupke', 'Abhimaan', 'Silsila' and 'Sholay', among others. They were last seen together on the big screen in 'Ki and Ka' where they made a special apperance.

At a time when celebrities share details about their personal life with fans on social media, the "Jassi Jaissi koi Nahin" star chooses to stay away from social networking sites to keep her sanity intact.

"I am not at all active on social media. I stay away from it because I like to guard my personal life. I don't like posting pictures when I am enjoying time with my loved ones.

"I am happy because I stay away from social media. Actors are very emotional people and I am an emotional person too. So, when somebody will say something nasty, I don't know how I will take it. I will just get very sad. I don't know why people out there are so frustrated in their lives that they start abusing online," Mona told PTI.

The 34-year-old actress will be seen in a new supernatural show "Kawach... Kaali Shaktiyon se", which will go on air on Colors from June 11.

"The story is my journey from a non believer in super natural powers to believer. I have never acted evil and seductive on a show. I took up the project because I thought it will be challenging for me as an actor. My character is being possessed by a dark force. So, it's a whole new ballgame for me."

Asked if her stint on the supernatural show is affecting her in real life, Mona said, "There are times when we shoot and come home and you find things very eerie. I have become very aware of sound. It's all psychological. That is why, I stay away from watching horror movies."

Inspired by the mythology of "Savitri and Satyavan", the finite series is produced by Ekta Kapoor. This is the third time Mona is teaming up with the media mogul.

"Ekta is first a friend. She comes up with these fabulous stories. You get completely lost in her world of stories. I love the fact that I am doing different kind of shows with Ekta be it 'Kya Hua Tera Vaada', 'Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do' and now this."

"Yeh Hai Mohabatein" actor Vivek Dahiya will be seen opposite her and former "Bigg Boss" contestant Mahek Chahal is playing the antagonist.

For Mona, working with these two actors was fun.

"We had fun on the sets. Mahek and I are both sardarnis and we used to bond over that. Vivek is a new actor. This is his first lead show and he was nervous initially. But later he also joined us."

Hadid, 21, and Malik, 23, first sparked romance rumors in November when they stepped out together at an American Music Awards after party, reported People magazine.

On May 2, the model and the former One Direction band member made their stylish red carpet debut as a couple at the Met Gala.

"Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow," an insider claims.

"It's all very unclear what's going on between them now.

They been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along."

http://images.mid-day.com/images/2016/jun/03-Gay_s.jpg*Amal Sehrawat and Alok Nath*

In the special video, Amal will be joined by his “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” co-star Alok Nath.

“My character's name is Vimlesh in the film and Alok Nath is playing my father-in-law. This film has a positive message on gay marriage. The film takes a dig at what obstacles are faced during gay marriages in India. It has been told in a very entertaining and refreshing manner.

Asked about his opinion on gay rights in the country, Amal said: “We have over-hyped the whole issue. In India, sex is still a taboo. Physical intimacy and sexual preference are two different things."

“What is important is the inner feeling. I know so many wonderful people who have different sexual preferences.”

The short film will be released on the YouTube channel Nazar Battu Productions on Friday. Reported by Mid-Day 18 hours ago.

Farah Khan has created another peppy dance number in 'Baby ko Bass Pasand Hai' from Sultan and the director-choreographer says she likes working with Salman Khan as he carries off naughty steps well.

Farah, who has worked with Salman a number of times be it 'Munni badnaam' or 'Fevicol Se', says she always tries to give him a signature step.

"I have worked with Salman for quite sometime now. I always give him a signature move that I know will become popular and only Salman can do it. He can carry off naughty, slightly tongue-in-cheek steps really well. He is a joy to work with as there is a lot of 'masti' on the sets and good food from his home," Farah told PTI in an interview.

The Happy New Year director said producer Aditya Chopra called her to choreograph the number that takes place during a wedding.

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the movie has Salman and Anushka Sharma playing wrestlers from Haryana. Sultan is releasing on July 6 and is produced by Yash Raj Films.

The ace choreographer says she was initially not supposed to do the number but she could not say no when Aditya called her.

"I was not supposed to be doing the song. Adi asked me whether I could come and do it this. I was working with Abbas for the first time. It was good that we got along so well." Farah says she has no particular preference when it comes to choreographing songs but enjoys challenges.

"This was fun with Salman and Anushka... It is a marriage song. Situation was not that unusual but then it makes it more difficult because you have to recreate something unusual. We had five days but we finished in four... Salman learns quickly and the director was clear about what he wanted. It was fun."

Mahek Chahal is in no hurry to marry beau Ashmit Patel

They made their relationship public on a recent reality show, but actress Mahek Chahal says she and boyfriend Ashmit Patel are not in hurry to tie the knot.

The Nayee Padosan actress said their respective professional commitments are keeping them busy at the moment.

"I think marriage is still too early. We have not completed a year yet so, I can't really say when we will be tying the knot. We both are very fond of each other and have a great friendship. Our thinking process is quite similar. We both are busy with our work," Mahek told PTI.

The 37-year-old actress is currently busy shooting supernatural finite series Kavach...Kaali Shaktiyon Se, which marks her debut in fiction.

"I won't do saas-bahu fiction. But definitely, I would love to do a character which is interesting. I don't think I would do a daily show at this point of time. I have done reality shows but not fiction."

In the show, she is playing the main antagonist, an evil spirit, opposite Mona Singh and Vivek Dahiya.

"Vivek and Mona are sweet. I have a great chemistry with Mona. We immediately started chatting on the first day. I think it is a Punjabi connection between me and Mona. Vivek encourages me. There are no hassles and we all help each other in whatever way we can," she said.

Mahek opted for the negative role because she finds such characters more interesting.

"I think it is more fun playing a bad girl. I think this is pretty interesting to watch. This is also one of the reasons I said 'yes' to the role. I have done a lot of negative roles and when I did my first one in Wanted, it was appreciated," she said.

Asked if TV is moving back to the regressive state where they are promoting superstition, Mahek said, "No,I don't think so. People are making TV shows on each and every subject. It depends on what you are interested in. Had it not been the case Naagin would have been a flop show."

Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Kavach...Kaali Shaktiyon Se will air on Colors from June 11.

Two-wheeler sales grow 19% in May; Honda contributes 47% to growth

$

Two-wheeler major Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) accounted for almost half of the incremental rise in two-wheeler sales in the country in May, riding on a 19% jump in its volumes.

The company also yanked up its domestic market share by 2 percentage points to 27.5%.

Total sales of the six largest two-wheeler makers -- Hero, Honda, Bajaj, TVS, Royal Enfield and Yamaha -- rose by 1,47,411 units to 17,22,265 units in May, of which HMSI alone accounted for 69,191 units, or 47% of the total incremental volume.

"We have made a very strong start in the new financial year, and we have carried the momentum forward in May as well as Honda was the highest volume gainer in the industry with a contribution of 47% to the incremental total volume," HMSI Senior VP for Sales and Marketing Y S Guleria told PTI.

He said growth was driven mainly by the new models Livo, CB Shine SP and CB Hornet 160R.

Guleria added demand is being driven by urban and semi-urban markets and with the IMD predicting a good monsoon, the company expects positive sentiment in rural areas as well.

In the scooters segment, Guleria said automatic models lead the industry growth and Honda's flagship model Activa continued to be the largest selling two-wheeler in January-April period this year, thanks to additional capacity coming in from its Gujarat plant.

"We are operating at full capacity in all our four plants.

However, to further meet the 30,000 back orders for scooters, we are working towards making our second line at the Gujarat plant operational soon," he added.

Honda commissioned the 6-lakh units first line in Gujarat ahead of schedule in February. The second line with a similar capacity will be onstream this month or early July, Gulerai said.

The Japanese two-wheeler major, the second largest player here, sold 4,36,358 units in May, up from 3,67,167 units a year ago, a growth of 19% (including both domestic sales and exports). Out of this, scooter sales rose to 2,68,423 units from 2,15,241 units a year ago, and bikes volume rose to 1,47,479 units from 1,38,140 units.

Its exports crossed the 20,000-units mark the second time at 20,456 units, up over 48% y-o-y.

Honda hopes to cross 5.4 million sales mark for the first time this year from 4.8 million last year.

"For the first time, we'll be able to cross 5 million sales mark this year," Guleria said, adding the 1.2 million scooters-only Gujarat plant will help in reaching the target.

Honda's domestic volume grew 18% in the month, which is the highest in the eight months since the last festive season, he said.

Against this, industry leader Hero MotoCorp saw its volume inch up a paltry 2.3% to 5,83,117 units in the month, while third-placed Bajaj Auto saw its volume rising by 3.4% to 347,655 units.

TVS Motor saw a volume growth of 10.8% to 2,43,783 units, while Yamaha reported a 36% jump in sales to 62,748 units.

In a research note, LKP Capital said the performance of the auto industry in April was very robust albeit on a low base. In May, this momentum slowed down a bit on seasonal factors -- April being the month where marriage season was at its peak in Northern and Western regions, and inventory build-up was heavy to cater to the retail demand.

Honda got off to a stellar start this fiscal with April sales zooming 26.51% to 4,31,011 units, while Hero MotoCorp, after a full year of falling sales in 2015-16, witnessed a 15% spurt.

Bajaj saw volume falling 2% to 3,30,109 units.

For the full fiscal 2015-16, as per SIAM data, while two-wheeler sales inched up 2.7% to 1,89,37,104 units (domestic sales and exports), Honda sales rose to 44,83,835 units from 44,39,983 units, out of which domestic sales stood at 42,53,471 units, up from 42,83,690 units in FY14.

"FY17 is going to be our most definitive year here. Our priorities will be strengthening our connect with the youth, make all our models BS-IV compliant at the earliest while continue to aggressively make inroads into rural markets, which now contributes around 35% of total sales," Guleria said.

The Rs 1,100-crore factory at Vithalapur near Ahmedabad is a scooters-only plant. Since its entry, Honda has invested over Rs 7,800 crore in the country. It employs around 20,000 people, including 3,000 people at the Gujarat plant. (Honda began independent operations after split with Hero in 2011 with a 1.65 million units plant at Manesar in Haryana).

The two-wheeler market is on course to touch the 20 million mark by 2020 from 16 million in 2014-15, but the industry is worried about the new emission and safety norms.

*Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti-backed Independent MLA, Sambhaji Patil (in pic) from Belagavi South constituency, infamous for his anti-Kannada stand, is back in the news again for all the wrong reasons.*

The legislator's daughter-in-law, Sheetal Patil, has filed a police complaint against him and his son Sagar accusing them of physically and mentally harassing her for dowry. Sheetal, a native of Pandrapur in Maharashtra, in her complaint to the women police station, accused her husband Sagar, his father Sambhaji Patil, mother Ujwala, in-laws Sandhya Parnulkar and Nitin Parnulkar, of harassing her for the past four years demanding a dowry of Rs 50 lakh.

She has also accused her husband of marrying another woman on April 19, 2016, with his parents blessings, and claimed that she had been manhandled by her husband and his family members for objecting to the second marriage.

Sheetal told the police her husband and in-laws had threatened to eliminate her if she raised her voice against Sagar's second marriage. Speaking to a section of media at the police station, Sheetal said: "I married Sagar in 2011. My parents had given 750 grams of gold and huge cash as dowry. Also, my husband did not visit me when I was hospitalised."

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Anupam Agarwal confirmed that a dowry case had been registered against Sambhaji Patil, his son Sagar and other family members. Replying to a question, Agarwal said he would subject all the accused to inquiry and, if necessary, take them into custody, particularly Sheetal's husband Sagar, the main accused.

Naveen was studying second year BSc at Government First Grade College here and Farhana was in the final year at the same college. They were in love for the past two years. Fearing the consequences, they were staying in another district for the past few days.

Meanwhile, Farhana's father Sardar had lodged a missing complaint in the town police station on June 3. The police, who had registered the complaint, were in search of the couple.

On Sunday, Naveen and Farhana visited the police station at 11.30 am and explained that they were in love and had married voluntarily. They sought protection as their parents had objected to their relationship and may cause trouble.

The police summoned the parents of the couple and tried to convince them, but in vain. Later, the police explained to them that the newlywed couple were majors and it was their duty to protect them as per law. Reported by Deccan Herald 8 hours ago.

Back from the dead, Sandor Clegane is a changed man, sort of, thanks in part to Brother Ray who brought him back to life. Ray is what the High Sparrow should have been, genuinely reformed, interested in stemming all violence, leading and helping lead a peaceful life. The High Sparrow is powerful and successful because he plays the game just like the rest of them. A lesson reinforced by the fate Ray and his followers meet. So consider that time in the pastures a brief interlude from the violence to come.

Everyone responds differently to second chances. A reformed Margaery is dropping verses from the Book of the Mother while keeping a straight face as the High Sparrow offers her advice on everything from her sex life to her grandmother's safety. As polite as he is cunning, he convinces her that she needs to send Olenna away. But Margaery mirrors the Sparrow's every move. While playing the pious Queen she slips Olenna the Highgarden rose in a scrap of paper, revealing where her true faith lies.

On her way out, Olenna locks horns with Cersei. “I wonder if you might be the most horrible person I’ve ever met.” The surprise here is Cersei's forbearance at the insults thrown at her. Hopefully, this reformative arc is not an omen for how her trial will go. We all know GOT's thumb rule: the nicer you are, the deader your fate.

Just ask Jon Snow whose resurrection continues to be used as a sale pitch to get people to fight for him. It's working on the wildlings but, unfortunately, not on the great houses of the North. Jon's speeches may not be having the desired effect but fear not. We heard another one make speech after speech and she got to walk through fire triumphantly. Fingers crossed, the battle with the Boltons will make up for Jon's current dullness. Dying really did take the life out of him. (Sorry)

Having her marriage to Ramsay thrown in her face is not going down well with Sansa who sends a raven out, possibly a call for outside help. If this is how Littlefinger comes back to the scene, that seed of discord was well planted.

Without a doubt, the highlight of this episode is 10-year-old Lady Lyanna, head of House Mormont. This kid is Jorah the Explorer's cousin and has ten times the gumption he does. Somebody sit her on the Iron Throne. She has more sense and tenacity than the rest of the claimants combined.

The Greyjoy siblings have sailed to Volantis (note the teardrop tattoo under the eye of the slaves) and plan on journeying to Mereen to ally with the Dragon Queen. These two are fast becoming a motley crew the show doesn't know how to use. The only point of curiosity is what they can offer Daenerys when their uncle Euron will bring her a thousand ships and the horn to control dragons.

Jaime donned his Lannister armour to lead an army to Riverrun's doorstep to end the siege and the Frey's miserable attempts at blackmailing. He has a formidable army and the king's command on his side. But the Blackfish parleys with Jaime only to tell him, “Sieges are dull, I wanted to see you in person.”

Lyanna Mormont and the Blackfish. That's a road-trip drama waiting to be written. If GOT's looking for spin-off ideas, I'd watch these two set Westeros straight all day.

Meanwhile, Arya is skipping through Braavos, dropping money and booking passage to Westeros like she didn't just defy the House of Black and White. We now know what The Waif's idea of not letting her "suffer too much" meant. Three quick stabs to the gut and all of Arya's plans are askew.

Arya's survival is the cliffhanger the show wants to leave us with but are we forgetting something?

Brotherhood without Banners, the group responsible for the slaughter earlier in the episode. Their aim has actually been to protect the defenceless common man in the war-torn areas of the Riverlands. Why then are they on a murderous rampage?

Two words. *Lady Stoneheart*. (Click at the risk of further spoilers and getting your hopes up for the appearance of an intriguing new character.)
